Are you on Twitter yet? If not, you may be missing out on the opportunity to get some great deals on flights. United Airlines has launched a new way to spread the news about cheap airfares – Twares. The airline plans to announce special discounted airfares on Twitter. According to the company’s web-site Twitter + Fares = Twares.

Don’t blink an eye, though, because these deals go fast. The USA Today in the Sky Blog reported that at 11:10 am ET Wednesday, United tweeted its first Tware - a $63 each way (plus taxes) fare from Washington Reagan National to Chicago O’Hare. The deals are time sensitive and if you head over the United Airlines web-site and their page devoted to their new Twares you will find that the deal has expired leaving fellow traveling Twitter users to anxiously await the next announcement.

If you haven’t noticed yet, Twitter is everywhere. It is a real-time short messaging service where users follow the sources most interesting to them. This ranges from breaking news, like discount airfares, to updates from friends. Signing up for Twitter is free and easy. Once you are set-up you can follow United Airlines and stay updated on Twares.

These discount fares and their presence on Twitter is exciting for budget travelers who spend the majority of their days at the computer. Only time will tell if this Twitter Tware trend will spread to other airlines providing more opportunities to get a quick deal for your upcoming trip.
