Occupy targets 11 homes and UNRWA school in Rafah, reports fresh killings

Yesterday evening, dozens of martyrs and wounded were killed in bombings and attacks by the Israeli occupation in several areas across the Gaza Strip since Sunday evening, and the occupying army once again targeted a school owned by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) housing displaced persons in the Nusirat camp.

An Al Jazeera reporter reported that 21 martyrs, including children, were killed in an Israeli attack targeting 11 houses in Rafah since Sunday evening.

The journalist explained that the Israeli bombing targeted the house of the Abu Lebda family in al-Genina area, east of Rafah city, south of the Gaza Strip, killing 4 martyrs, including two children.

Also, Israeli bombing of a house in al-Tanur area east of Rafah city killed 9 people, including 4 children, and caused significant property damage, the reporter said.

One martyr and several others were injured in an aggressive airstrike that targeted the home of the Al-Khawaja family in Al-Bilbisi area, east of Rafah.

Israeli occupation aircraft bombed two houses in the east of the city, completely destroying them and injuring several bystanders with various injuries. The occupying army’s artillery also intensified its bombardment of the eastern suburbs of the city.

UNRWA targeting school

In addition, Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that six people were killed and many others were injured in a bombing by an Israeli occupation aircraft that targeted a UNRWA school targeting displaced persons in the Nusirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.

He said many of the wounded were transferred from Al-Awda Hospital in Nusirat to Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Bala because their condition was critical.

This is not the first time Israel has bombed UNRWA buildings in Gaza, but the development comes as UNRWA Commissioner Philippe Lazzarini announced on Sunday that Israel had denied entry into the Gaza Strip for the second time.

Earlier on Sunday, several Palestinians were killed and wounded when Israeli warplanes struck near the entrance to the Al-Jauni school, a refugee camp in the Nusirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.

Since the start of the Israeli war in the Gaza Strip, tens of thousands of Palestinians have taken refuge in various schools and shelters, some of them owned by UNRWA, as a result of displacement from their residential areas and the bombing of their homes.
