He explained that dengue fever is transmitted by the tiger mosquito, also known as the yellow fever mosquito or dengue mosquito. He pointed out that the symptoms of the infection are accompanied by a sharp rise in body temperature and pain in the legs and feet. and joints, headache, tremors, itching and a rash that covers a large area of ​​skin in addition to swollen lymph nodes.

These symptoms often appear four to seven days after a mosquito bite, which is the incubation period for the disease.

Dangerous path

In some cases, dengue fever can take a severe course that is life-threatening, and then the patient suffers from abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, shortness of breath and bleeding of mucous membranes such as bleeding gums.

Mild cases of dengue fever are treated with fever-reducing and pain-relieving drugs, while severe cases require medical treatment in a hospital.

Prevention methods

To prevent dengue fever, travelers to tropical areas should receive a dengue vaccine. You can also protect your skin from mosquito bites by applying mosquito repellent on your skin.

Wearing long clothes that cover the hands and feet, which are parts of the body that are prone to mosquito bites, is also helpful.
