Celine Dion made a surprise appearance at the 2024 Grammy Awards on Sunday — as she battles incurable difficult person syndrome.
The 55-year-old star, who has stepped away from her singing career in light of her health issues, was clearly emotional as she walked on stage with the support of her eldest son René-Charles Angell, 23, amid cheers and warm applause. It also won the album of the year award.
She said: “Thank you everyone! I love you so much. You are amazing. When I say I'm happy to be here, I mean it from my heart.”
He continued: “Those who have the opportunity to be here at the Grammy Awards should never underestimate the tremendous love and joy that music brings to our lives and to people around the world.”
He added: “I'm very happy to present the Grammy Award that was given to me 27 years ago. These are the nominees for Album of the Year…”
Celine announced that Swift's acclaimed album Midnights had won the award, making Grammy history by winning the award for the fourth time.
Celine dazzled in a terracotta coat, chiffon dress and sparkling jewelry as she entered the stage.
Swift became the first person to win the award four times and took to the stage in dramatic fashion at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Dion presented her with the award, but fans pointed out that Swift wasn't paying attention and didn't make eye contact with Dion, and quickly looked back to celebrate the moment with her assistants.
“Taylor Swift didn't hug or acknowledge Celine Dion. I can't stand it,” one upset fan later wrote on social media.
However, there didn't seem to be any hard feelings or embarrassment as the iconic duo later appeared happy backstage.
