Travel Deals: Asiatravel.com Website Review - 231

Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur, MalaysiaTravel planning. As much as I love it, the truth is it can often be as much frustrating as it is fun. When it comes to hotels finding the best location for accommodation and seeking out killer deals is a major priority.

The month of October I had the opportunity to travel around Southeast Asia, so I was in the market to find affordable pricing at hotels within the five countries I visited. I came across Asiatravel.com in travel forums multiple times which lead me to check out what they had to offer.

Now, I’ve heard horror story after horror story about booking through travel sites and the actual hotels claiming to never have received the reservation. For this reason, I typically stick with booking directly through the accommodations reservation desk or website, but this time I was willing to take a chance and ended up saving money in the process.

The bottom line:

  • I made four reservations in three different countries directly through the website.
  • Within minutes I received a confirmation via email stating that the hotel had accepted the reservation.
  • I presented the printed email when checking in at each hotel with no questions asked.
  • Prices and amenities included (internet, breakfast, etc.) were all honored.

Asiatravel.com gave me a better price than the hotel’s website for each of my accommodations and I had no problems with the reservations once we arrived at my destination. I consider the site a valuable resource for planning travel in Southeast Asia. Check it out if you have a trip coming up!

Tips for your search:

  • I found it easier to simply search the city and date when looking for a specific hotel. Most I had an interest in topped the list by the second page of search results.
  • Check the terms closely, some deals are pre-pay and some are pay at the hotel upon checkout. All that I booked did not require pre-payment.
  • Pay attention to what you are getting with your price so you can compare to other sites accordingly. Many options included breakfast, but internet was highly dependent upon the city visited.
