As a traveler you know that it is important and respectful to learn at leas
t a few words of the local language spoken at your destination. Unfortunately, busy schedules keep you from getting in enough studying before the big trip. That is why 30 Words may be the answer to your language learning dilemma.
30 Words makes small (a little bigger than a passport) language tools in the form of fold out cards containing 700 key words and phrases. These cards are easy to pack along with you, a lot less bulky than a translation book. Even better is that they are made of a waterproof and tear proof material reducing the chances that you’ll accidentally damage your lifeline to the local culture.
Currently the company provides these guides for European Spanish and South/Central American Spanish, but French, Italian, Chinese: Mandarin, Vietnamese and Quechua are all coming soon. Each guide consists of an accordion-style booklet with ten double-sided panels.
On these panels you will find specific vocabulary words such as nouns, verbs and adjectives, but you will also find key phrases and some easy to read lessons about grammar. For each category there is a listing of the English word or phrase, the same in the foreign language and then a breakdown of how it is pronounced. In addition each guide has a re-writeable medical card and notepad.
After you have your guide in hand you may decide you need a little more information based on your specific travel interests. To meet this need, 30 Words provides additional pages for the guides, called My 30, which cover everything from hiking to bar hopping to irregular verbs. These can be downloaded and printed from the web free of charge.

The guides cost $8.95 each plus shipping and can be purchased directly from the company’s store. You can also check them out on Twitter or stay updated through their blog.
Give them a try and you won’t be saying, “Hablo un poco de español,” for long!

It seems to be the common dictionary. Why is it so good?
